Lactulose

Lactulose is a synthetic sugar used primarily as a laxative to treat chronic constipation. It works by drawing water into the bowel, softening stools, and promoting regular bowel movements. Additionally, lactulose is utilized to manage hepatic encephalopathy, a liver disease complication, by reducing blood ammonia levels.

Usage Instructions:

• Constipation: The typical starting dose for adults is 15 milliliters taken twice daily. It may take 48 hours or longer to produce a bowel movement.
